CHAPTER 20

Simeon

Asya became family the day Anatoly allowed me to bless her as such. She moved into my mother’s home, and damn, did my cock stay hard while I lived there too.

After I left for the university, I visited my mother’s home every second I could spare. I gave myself the excuse that it was to ensure Asya’s education was up to par. At least, that was my excuse to set eyes on her. It was on one of those days in particular when I’d mentioned my own studies, all to test her. The theory must have reminded her of the pizda who once owned her. Asya went off, hitting me anywhere she could.

Of course, I had already begged my father to have the bastard’s life a few years ago. Had I murdered Asya’s previous owner, she’d no longer have Resnov protection. Blood or no blood, Anatoly would’ve had my head.

After her outburst, nothing my dickhead father warned could have stopped me. I was on edge, and so after I left her, I went straight to the man she had loved.

He lived in an even grander home than my father. Silk tapestries lined the walls, along with all the art pretentious fucks like him loved.

Laughter came from a room. I stood in a loft area in the center of the third floor. My fingers gripped at a canvas painting, which cost more than he’d paid for Asya. I yanked it from the wall, pulled my knife from my back pocket, and slid it through the cloth. Millions of dollars rendered worthless. In that precise second, I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied until I had the mudak’s head, though it was my lack of satisfaction that would keep Asya safe. I toyed with the thought of murdering him and running away with her.

I grabbed another painting and tore through over a hundred years of history.

“What are you doing?” The man stumbled into the loft area, a slight tremble in his fingers as he tied a silk robe.

“What does it look like?” I growled. From my pocket, I removed a tiny bottle and squirted lighter fluid in his direction. I then aimed the liquid toward another mantle. “Will you not fight the man who’s vandalizing your home?”

He smiled. “Have at it, boy. Know that every asset of mine you destroy, I have enough money to replace the irreplaceable. What you can’t do, Young Resnov, is touch me.”

“It’s a sad world when there’s nothing worth replacing.” I shook my head. “Real men fight for what they own, irreplaceable or not. It’s theirs to own. I see you’re so accustomed to your inheritance you will watch it go to waste.” I lit a match, cast it toward him, and he jumped back.

“Stop it.” He stumbled further away from the ignition. “Your uncle Anatoly will murder you for me. Your family is in my pocket, Young Resnov. Keep trying it.”

I lit another match, watched the flames flicker in his gaze before casting it toward another asset.
